Sometimes the answers aren’t obvious.

Testing applies the scientific tools of psychology to the assessment of children, adolescents and young adults. Our team of education and psychology professionals are fully trained and certified to determine if testing is necessary; and, if so, administer exactly which ones to use. Among the areas we test are:

Educational and Psychological Testing

At Bodin, the testing process is expedited because we provide in-house testing services.

  1. Cognitive Functioning: What are the strengths and weaknesses relative to verbal comprehension, spatial and nonverbal reasoning skills, memory and attention, problem solving, impulse control and judgment?

  2. Academic Functioning: Is the student at grade level according to national norms? Is there evidence of learning disabilities? Why has school performance dropped off? Are there specific reasons for why this student struggles and what remedies are called for? What are reasonable academic expectations?

  3. Emotional Functioning: Is there an underlying emotional cause that explains this child’s behavior? Testing will most often uncover evidence of depression, anxiety, defiance and anger, eating and sleep disorders, identity and self-esteem functioning, substance abuse, social insensitivity, and childhood abuse. An assessment of risk for self-harm and suicide, aggression and compliance with treatment will be made.

Assessment of Academic Skills

Used to determine proficiency in specific academic areas. Early detection of strengths, deficiencies, and weaknesses can assist you in providing enrichment or remedial supplements to even the most comprehensive school curriculum.

Testing for Learning Differences

The earlier a child’s potential learning difference can be identified, the earlier it can be treated. Effective testing can identify the specific challenge and help the consultant and family make informed decisions.
